Conservatives in Strood (Medway)

You can Frown with Gordon Brown

This morning we have a new Conservative Councillor, Trevor Clarke, representing Rochester South & Horsted Ward, with majority of over a 1,000 votes.

Gordon Brown and his cronies must wonder how it all managed to fall apart so quickly. Last nights by-elections results In Rochester South & Horsted Ward will help to provide the knock out blow that he and this Government deserves.

He is the worst Chancellor and Prime Minister this country has EVER had – recent election results provide the opinion of most people now.

Recently, when questioned at Prime Ministers Questions by Conservative MP Mark Lancaster if he could tell the house what the price of a litre of petrol costs, Brown was stumped. He only managed to answer after being prompted by his ministers.

How can he have any idea of what people are going through? For him to pretend to do so is a despicable act of political posturing. Unfortunately, he's now been found out...

Residents of Medway that have been hoodwinked by years of spin have awoken to the consequences of this incompetent farce of a government. Not only are they wise to him, but also the pathetic posturing of our own local Labour Party (along with their Lib Dem colleagues), who feel that they can tell any ‘porky pie’ in order to win an election.

Well just like Gordon, you’ve been found out.

No one expects governments to be perfect - but they do expect them to be fiscally sound and have funds to cushion the bad times saved from the good. Gordon Brown, for all his "Prudence rhetoric" did not do this.

Repossession claims have doubled since 2004 to over 80,000 PA - and continue to rise.

Gordon Brown & New Labour have nothing to be proud of. They have eroded everything in this country and the person to blame is the current incumbent in number 10, he has been involved in the decision making process from the beginning.

So lets’ hear it from the New Labour MPs’ and their supporters then -
Three cheers for Browns 10% tax raid on the Poor, The Pensioners and those most socially disadvantaged.
Hip Hip....

The original line was "Going down with Gordon Brown" -- but near enough :-)

I have blogged on the LibDems' campaign in particular in this by-election HERE. There is b(sadly) nothing honourable about either of the main opposition parties in this area, and I am aware that it is much the same elsewhere in the country. No wonder the BNP got 257 votes here -- two-and-a-half as many as the Green candidate achieved. There is no credibility in the Left in Britain nowadays, and they have only themselves to blame for this situation: no-one did it to them.

If they don't buck up their ideas, we are going to end up with a very lopsided political scene in this country before long, and that would not be healthy for democracy. Again, though, .only those parties themselves can prevent such an outcome by cleaning-up their acts and being honest with the electorate for a change; and also by abandoning such idiotic stances as fighting a "class war" or any other form of the politics of envy (which is what all of that always turns out to be, and usually highly hypocritical at that).

Your comment about not expecting Governments to be perfect is fair nough: none of us is perfect, and we would probably end up far too cocky and smugly superior if we were. What the public has an absolute right to expect, though, is basic honesty and integrity, combined with at least reasonable competence. Here in Medway that automatically excludes both Labour and the LibDems, which is why their support here is so small and generally dwindling. There might be the odd blip, but vthe trend for both is downward, and has been for years. As I mentioned above, this is entirely down to their own behaviour, and being sussed out by an ever greater part of the voters of Medway.

It's really just a case of cause-and-effect. If they don't like the effect, they shouldn't produce the cause, should they?

Ah, yes -- but I recall that the video was posted here (by Martin, as it happens) last August, so I thought you might have kept to the same title.

I got that wrong :-)
